The Canadian Somali Congress First Annual
Business Conference was held on Wednesday, October 24th, 2007 at the Marriott
Hotel Conference Centre located on Airport Road. The event was
Co-Sponsored by the Royal Bank of Canada and the Canadian International Peace
Project. The Conference focused on financing and legal issues afftecting the
success of Canadian -Somali small businesses and hence the successful
integration of the Canadian-Somali community. CIPP's Mark Persaud spoke at the
Conference as did James Morton who holds the dual role as a Governor of the
Canadian Internation Peace Project and Legal Counsel to the Canadian Somali
Congress. The event was fully attended. Other presenters included Michael
Michell and Dianne Antoniel of the Royal Bank of Canada, Taras Kulish of the law
firm, Steinberg, Morton, Hope and Israel, Dahir Gelbete of Somali
Business Development Centre and Ahmed Hussen, National President of the Canadian
Somali Congress.
